Blairgowrie Area

Situated in the heart of beautiful Perthshire, Blaigowrie is on the historic route North from Perth to the highlands and the North East.  A rural town of approx 7000 population today, with all of the shopping and amenities expected of a town of this size, Blairgowrie developed on the banks of the river Ericht through farming and the numerous mills which once worked along the river side.  Today the mills have gone and Blairgowrie is a thriving and busy rural town with a strong retail base and popular with tourists of all types.  For more information on the area and the many activitiies available check out the links opposite.

Perthshire, and Blairgowrie in particular, is a wonderful base for a holiday with easy access by road or rail to many parts of Scotland.  By road, Scotlands' major cities of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen are only 1 hour 30 minutes away via the motorway network.  Closer to Blairgowrie, Perth and Dundee with their many attractions can be reached within 30 minutes.

From Dundee, it is an easy drive across the Tay road bridge to explore the beautiful coastal villages and towns of Fife, including St Andrews famed for its ancient university buildings and churches, and its' many golf courses.

Head north and you are soon climbing through the Glens with spectacular scenery towards Bridge of Cally. Continue north to Braemar, Balmoral (home of the Royal family), and a wide choice of routes through the mountains towards Inverness.  Alternatively, turn West at Bridge of Cally and follow the scenic route to Pitlochry and the famous salmon leap.

There are simply too many possible routes and historic places to visit to describe them all here but our guests all comment  that this is a terrific location as a base to visit many of the sights and attractions in Scotland.
